The World Poker Tour Ladies' Night II in 2004
After a successful first season, the World Poker Tour Ladies' Night was once again held at the elegant Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California, this time from the 30th of August until the 1st of September 2004. This poker tournament was part of the prosperous third season of the World Poker Tour.
The World Poker Tour Ladies' Night II was also an ultimate display of some of the best women poker players in the world, just like the very first season. This time the action is more intense and faster with a lot of new players showing up. The final table also showcased Ladies' Night I champion Clonie Gowen defends her title against some of the up-and-coming women poker players.
The final table featured a different cast from last year's event except for Gowen, who once again found herself going up against some of the top women poker players in the world. The other 2004 finalists are Cuilling Zhang, Cyndy Violette, Wendeen Eolis, Sharon Goldman, and Isabelle Mercier. These beautiful women gave the world of poker one great showdown to watch and enjoy.
Contrary to what Gowen experienced during her championship run, things were not looking good her opponents bravely displayed their determination to oust the defending champion in an instant. From the very start Gowen found herself in a very problematic situation that eventually led to early exit in the tournament. All the players who were able to reach the final table were very aggressive. This shocked Gowen who appeared to be stunned by her much fiercer and determined opponents.
Of all the remaining players, it was Mercier who seems to go on a roll. Everything appears to go in her favor especially after she made that excellent move that eliminated Gowen in the very first round. With her confidence soaring, there seems to be no stopping Mercier from dominating the event as she went against Zhang in the final round. The action was intense and very unpredictable but only one of them would be declared the ultimate winner of this poker tournament.
At the end of another successful season for this tournament, Mercier was declared the winner of the World Poker Tour Ladies' Night II. With this victory, she was able to prove to the world, especially to her fellow women poker players, that she is indeed a force to reckon with in the poker world. As a champion of this tournament, Mercier won a total of $25,000 was given a guaranteed seat to the World Poker Tour Championship at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada.
